About Me
I'm Kyle Legg, an award-winning content marketing leader specializing in global brand and team building through creativity, strategic storytelling, and humanity.
I lead global brand social media editorial and creative for @Salesforce and @Trailhead from San Francisco, CA, and London, UK. But my journey into social media began long before it was a career path…
My passion for writing and creating started young, obsessively crafting illustrated books and intricate building LEGO structures. Growing up in the early 2000s, I was introduced to proto-social platforms like AOL Instant Messenger and message boards, followed by MySpace, where I taught myself HTML and CSS and, unwittingly, social media strategy. These early experiences laid the foundation for my career in social media.
Throughout school, I honed my skills in journalism, layout design, and photography. Moving to San Francisco for university, I further developed my web and print design skills at a real estate company. This led to creating 49Miles.com, my first professional venture into social media and content marketing, where I documented my explorations around San Francisco with hyperlocal guides.
In 2019, I joined Salesforce to support Dreamforce social media, marking the start of my corporate journey. Today, I bring a unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience to Salesforce’s social media strategy, spanning 140+ global social handles and 22 regions.
As a leader, I believe successful social media teams thrive on five key principles:
Agility: Adapting quickly in the real-time world of social media.
Creativity: Embracing versatility and resourcefulness in content creation.
Curiosity: Continuously learning and exploring new platforms and updates.
Fun: Enjoying the process and injecting personality into our work — social media is fun.
Humanity: Connecting authentically with audiences and staying aware of global contexts.
From customizing MySpace profiles to leading global social media for a Fortune 500 brand, my journey has been driven by a constant desire to create, connect, and innovate. I'm excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in social media with a touch of humanity and a dash of fun.
Speaking of fun… here’s a fun fact: I once participated in the world's largest gathering of people dressed as Albert Einstein, hand-tying 1,000 crusty, dusty, and musty secondhand neckties for the event. It's just one example of the lengths I'll go for a job I love. ;-)
